Welcome to the memorial page for

Evelyn V. (Dalles) Cortinovis

September 1, 1921 ~ December 15, 2016 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Evelyn Virginia Dalles Cortinovis slipped the bonds of this earth for a better place on December 15, 2016.

Evelyn was born in Steubenville, Ohio on September 1, 1921 to John and Lucy Dalles.  She was the oldest of four sisters and two brothers.  She resided with her family and extended family in Acmetonia, PA where they shared the challenges, love and laughter of a big Italian family. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother John Dalles and sisters Gloria Netherland and Leonora Slaney.

Evelyn married George Lewis Cortinovis and has one daughter, Pamela Lee Cortinovis Emery and one son in law, William G. Emery in Williamsport, PA.  Evelyn also has one sister Grace Dalles Clarke, Brooklyn, New York, one brother, Robert D. Dalles and one sister in law, Anna Marie Dalles, Palm Coast, Florida who survive her as well as one granddaughter, Rachel Marie Muffley and one great grandson Aidan Anthony Scalise.  Evelyn’s face literally lit up each time she saw her great grandson who shared a special bond with her. Evelyn also has several nephews and nieces who each have their own special memories of their time with her.

Evelyn’s petite, blond stature did not reflect her tough yet genuinely kind persona.

She proudly claimed to be a child of the Great Depression and attributed her longevity to living through that era.  She enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed her visits to England, Mexico and the Bahamas. She liked to follow current fashion trends and was always beautifully dressed. On any given day, you could spot her in her powder blue Mustang II going shopping.

Evelyn attended Aspinwall High School in Aspinwall, PA.  She was employed as a medical receptionist for Dr. F. Boyd Couch, in Springdale, PA and later as a corporate secretary for Gulf Oil and Research Development in Harmarville, PA.  She retired in 1983 and continued to reside with her mother until 1998 when she moved to Williamsport, PA to be near her daughter.  She was a resident of the Hillside Assisted Living for the past twelve years.

Life was far better for those who knew her.  She will be forever in their hearts and will never be forgotten.

Flowers are accepted or donations in her name can be made to the Lycoming County SPCA.

Friends will be received 7-9 P.M.
