Josephine (Calvanese) Stanziano, 90, of New Kensington, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, in UPMC Magee-Women's Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born Oct. 14, 1927, in Arnold, to the late Louis and Josephine (Buffone) Calvanese, and was married to Victor Stanziano, of New Kensington, for 70 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Palochik; brother, Louis Calvanese; and stepfather, Domenico Ruzzi. She was a member of Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington, a lifetime member of the Addolorata Society of the church and also St. Anthony Guild. She was also a member of the Forward America Ladies Lodge, formerly in Arnold. Also, she enjoyed volunteering for the church fish fry and Italian Festa. Josephine was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed cooking, bowling, golfing and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Victor Stanziano, of 70 years; daughter, Vickie Jo (Ron) Black, of New Kensington; sister, Mary Calvanese, of New Kensington; sister-in-law, Sharron Calvanese, of Florida; two grandchildren, Ian (Kristen Collodi) Black and Lisa (Vincent) Paglia; and great-granddaughter, Izabel "Izzy" Paglia. Also, she is survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, in the GIUNTA-BERTUCCI FUNERAL HOME INC., 1509 Fifth Ave., Arnold, JohnPaul Bertucci, owner-supervisor. Prayers of transfer will take place at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church.
