Lucia “Lucy” (Raspante) Cali of Arnold, PA peacefully entered eternal life on March 4, 2018 after over 100 years of love, laughter, and biscotti with her cherished family and friends.
Born July 14, 1917 in Sicily, Italy to the late Filippo and Maria Raspante, Lucy married Gioacchino “Jack” Cali in Sicily on January 18, 1948 and emigrated to the United States in July 1948.
Lucy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law who lived for her family and friends. She was well-known for her biscotti and her outstanding sewing ability. She made many beautiful outfits for her daughters and grandchildren throughout her life and worked as a professional seamstress in Hart’s bridal department for many years. She enjoyed gardening and preparing wonderful Italian dinners for her family. Lucy was always willing to share her time and talents to help anyone who asked.
Lucy believed in hard work and prayer. She was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church and Addolorata Society in New Kensington.
She is survived by two daughters, Catherine (Gerald) Gerker of Columbus, Ohio and Maria (Vincent) Corsi of Louisville, Kentucky; five grandchildren: Michael Shaffer, Julie Shaffer, Nathan (Jessica) Corsi, Stephen (Kari) Corsi, and Cali (Tony) Fluhr; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Halle, Tynnlee, Sofia, Celia, and Luca. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Giuseppina Raspante, many loving nieces and nephews in Sicily, and special lifelong friends, Ginger and Buddy Weissert.
In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and her siblings, Giuseppa, Antonina, Ciro, Rosa, and Giuseppino.
Friends will be received Friday 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. in the Giunta-Bertucci Funeral Home, Inc., 1509 5th Ave., Arnold, JohnPaul Bertucci, Owner-Supervisor.
Prayers of transfer will take place Saturday at 9:30 A.M. in the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Mt. St. Peter R.C. Church.
Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
