Ronald Michael Del Duca Sr., formerly of Virginia Beach, Va., died on Sept. 3, 2017. Ron was born on Nov. 30, 1933, in Glassmere, Pa. On June 15, 1957, Ron married Joann Tocco, and the couple remained married until Joann's death on July 12, 2012. Ron graduated from New Kensington High School in 1951, Wyoming Seminary Preparatory School in Kingston, Pa. in 1953, and entered as a plebe at the United States Naval Academy later that year, where he was a member of the football team. Upon his graduation from the Naval Academy in 1957, Ron earned his commission as an Ensign, and embarked on a rewarding 32 year career in the Navy, retiring at the rank of Captain. While serving his country in the Navy, Ron continued his education, receiving his MBA from George Washington University and his MPA from Golden Gate University. Upon retirement, Ron and Joann settled in Virginia Beach, Va., where he began a second career as an educator with Golden Gate University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and Saint Leo University. Additionally, Ron served as the Associate Director of Admissions at Old Dominion University, located in Norfolk, Va. Ron utilized his business acumen in the private sector as well, serving as the president of both the Duke Corporation and International Materials Inc. Ron was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Joann; as well as his parents, Anthony and Natalie Del Duca; and in-laws, Rose and Ralph Tocco. He is survived by his sons, Ronald M. Del Duca Jr., of Pittsburgh, and Mark T. Del Duca, and his wife, Barbara, also of Pittsburgh. Ron is also survived by his five grandchildren, Lauren, Gabriella, Alexa, Ronaldo and Nicole. Ron will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, in Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 100 Freeport Road, New Kensington.  Family and friends, please meet at the church. Burial will be private.
