Richard A. Massimino, 94, of Arnold, passed away on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born July 4, 1923, in Wyano, to the late Andrew and Frances (Gianetto) Massimino. He was the husband of the late Dora C. (Sbaraglia) Massimino. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew and Robert Massimino; and four sisters, Lucy Mangini, Katherine Mento, Frances Bentz and Viola Liberato. He was a member of Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington, and was a proud World War II Army veteran, serving in the Pacific. He also served during the Korean War. Richard was a member of the Columbiana in Arnold, and he retired from Consolidated Nation Coal Company in Renton, where he grew up as a boy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to his camp and joking with everyone. Richard was a true family man who gave to everyone in need and enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by a daughter, Anita (Allen) Smart, of Arnold; a son, Anthony R. Massimino, of Arnold; grandson, Shaun (Lindsay) Smart; two granddaughters, Kaitlyn Massimino and Emilie Massimino; and a great-grandson, Ethan Smart. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.in the GIUNTA-BERTUCCI FUNERAL HOME INC., 1509 5th Ave., Arnold, JohnPaul Bertucci, owner-supervisor. Prayers of transfer will take place at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Arnold.
