Thelma Haudon Obituary

Thelma Marie Haudon (Woodford) died Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Family Hospice, Pittsburgh, following a short and brave struggle with cancer.

Thelma was born October 6, 1953, in Chicago, the daughter of the late Col Howard Woodford USAF and the late Marie Elizabeth James. She graduated Bremer High School and studied at San Diego State University and Los Angeles City College. Thelma worked for over 30 years as a consultant in the IT and accounting industries, serving companies such as Toplis & Harding, Lloyds of London, City National Bank, Sony, CCS, Market Profiles, and most recently Carnegie Learning Centers. She retired in 2016.

Thelma enjoyed travel. During her lifetime she lived in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and Pittsburgh, and visited and worked in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Jamaica, and South Africa.

She was raised in the Baptist faith but was an avid student of comparative religion, studying the tenets of Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, and New Age thought. She enjoyed crafting resin artwork and jewelry and completed several online instruction videos for other hobbyists. She was an avid moviegoer and hockey fan, and loved jazz music and dance. Her lifelong interest in politics began with Rev Jesse Jackson's 1984 presidential campaign.

Thelma will be remembered for her grace, her kindness, her wit and her spirit, and in her final days impressed all who knew her with her strength and courage. She will be missed.

She leaves behind Eero and Linda Polus, and their children, Catarina, Robert, Erik, and Erol, of West Palm Beach, Florida; Linda Knight, of Joshua Tree, California; Sheila Quinn, of Chicago; Mark Scott, of Whittier, California, Suzanne Watson, Susanne Hamilton, Shirley Watts, Slimmarie Perry of Cleveland, Allan Sherman of Mendocino, CA; William Kosinar, of Chicago; Anthony Smith, of Brackenridge, PA, George Hawdon of Arnold, PA;  and her special companion, gray tabby Pretty Boy.
