Anthony "Rick" Ricchuito Obituary

Anthony “Rick” Ricchuito passed away peacefully at Allegheny Valley Hospital on Friday, February 21, 2025, at age 76. Rick was born on October 8, 1948, in Arnold to the late Herman and Jessie (Falsetti) Ricchuito. He graduated from Arnold High in 1966 and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he received his Bachelor of Arts in education in 1970 and master’s degree in counseling in 1978.

Rick served as a 5th.Grade Teacher in Gateway School District for several years before changing careers to manage the Comcast Cable Westmoreland System in 1980, where he built a great career until he retired in 2009.

Rick’s charm quickly filled every room he entered.  He was smart, funny and quick-witted, taking every opportunity to use his sharp comedic timing to entertain those around him. But he was also a devoted son and empathetic friend who loved volunteering and supporting his local community.

Everyone knew Rick loved sports as much as he loved his family. Rick was a devoted (some would say obsessed) Penn State football fan since 1966 attending every home game he could with his wife, daughters, friends and family. One of his greatest experiences was traveling to Tempe, Arizona to watch his Nittany Lions beat the Miami Hurricanes to win the 1986 national championship. Rick was also a long-suffering Pittsburgh Pirates season ticket holder, hoping each year would be the year the Bucs got back to their glory days of 1979. He loved attending Duquesne Dukes basketball games and rooting for the Syracuse Orange, especially when they played Pitt.

Rick truly loved nothing more than spending time with his family, whether it was enjoying the sunshine on large family vacations at Bethany Beach, touring areas like Maine, Boston and San Francisco with his brother and sister-in-law, eating pizza and gelato with his wife and daughters in Rome, or simply drinking coffee at his parent’s while embellishing stories of the “old days” with his uncles.

Rick is survived by his wife and true life-partner of nearly 53 years, Leona (Acquaviva) Ricchuito, his daughters Natalie (Cory) Winwood and Susan Ricchuito (Brittany David), and his brother David (Anne) Ricchuito. In addition to his wife, daughters and brother, Rick is also survived by many loving cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, God-children, grand dogs and cats who will all miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Herman and Jessie, and his grandparents Louis and Rose Falsetti and Anthony and Assunta Ricchuito.
