Donald Briscoe Jr. Obituary

Donald P. “Donnie” Briscoe Jr. (64) passed away on Wednesday, December 16 at Allegheny General Hospital surrounded by his wife and daughters. Don was born in New Kensington to Donald Briscoe Sr. and the late Elizabeth (Charlton) Briscoe. He was a lifelong resident of Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Burrell High School in 1974. Later, Don served in the United States Navy and worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years, retiring as the Postmaster in Creighton in 2012.Some of Don’s many passions included being called, “Pap,” and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending hours on the golf course any chance he had. In addition, he took great pride in his large garden each summer. Don spoke of fond memories of camping with his family and hunting with his brothers and nephews in his younger years.

Don had a large heart and spent many hours giving back to his community and the less fortunate. He enjoyed helping the Toys for Tots charity each year, helping the disabled veterans with his dear friend, Fred, and volunteering at the Mount Saint Peter’s Food Bank. Don is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Nanette (Mele) Briscoe, whom he only ever referred to as, “Hun;” two daughters, Natalie (Brian) Perkins and Chelsea Briscoe; and grandchildren, Noah, Tanner, and Sophia Perkins. He is also survived by his father, Donald Briscoe Sr.; aunt, Barbara Lakomy; sister, Cindy (Bob) Hughes; brother, David (Patti) Briscoe; brother, Dan (Debbie) Briscoe; sister-in law, Loretta Nee; and sister-in-law, Cheryl (Frank) Golembeski.
