Ernestine D Protzek

Ernestine D. Protzek, 82, of Springdale, passed peacefully on March 18, 2026, in Pittsburgh.

She was born on September 4, 1943, in New Kensington, to the late Bartholomew and Josephine (Maroni) Fiorina. In addition to her parents, Ernestine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Darrell Wayne Protzek, in 1990, and her brother, Barry Fiorina.

Ernestine is survived by her devoted daughter, Melissa Protzek, and her son-in-law, Dr. John Caltagarone. She is also survived by her brother, Stephen (Janet) Fiorina of Florida; her sister, Margaret (Art) Bramfeld of California; and her two cherished grandchildren, Duncan and Ariana Caltagarone.

Ernestine will be remembered for her love of family and the joy she found in spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
