Geraldine Frances Vairo

Geraldine “Jerry” Frances Vairo, 93, of Arnold, PA passed away on January 17, 2024. She was born at home in Arnold on April 2, 1930, to the late Domenico “Dom” A. and Rose M. (Quadraccia) Vairo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dom (1991) and Rose (2004), her sister, Jacqueline “Jackie” M. (Vairo) Probel (1999), her brother-in-law, Edwin “Pro” R. Probel (2018), paternal grandparents Pietro and Saveria (Policicchio) Vairo and maternal grandparents Modesto and Cecilia (DeSantis) Quadraccia. She is survived by her nephew Todd A. (Nina) Probel of Ohio and Mrs. Dana M. Probel (Christopher “CX”) Kennedy of Maryland, her grandnephews Matthew (Marissa), Thomas (Anna) and James Probel and Nicholas Kennedy and grandnieces Taylor Kennedy (Anthony) Skaggs, Jordan Kennedy (Ryan) Bradford and Corey Kennedy (Kevin) Williams as well as her great-grandnephews and great-grandnieces Jaxon, Xander and Maddox Skaggs, Charlie, Cameron and Mackenzie Bradford, Gavin and Wesley Williams and Brooke and Christian Probel.

Jerry was a 3rd generation life member of Mt. St. Peter R.C. Church, New Kensington, and a member of the Addolorata Society. Her faith and church were very meaningful parts of her life. She graduated in 1948 from Arnold High School and continued to serve on the reunion committee over many years. Jerry retired from the NK-Arnold School District Administrative Offices after 38 years of service in 1990 and was previously employed by Alcoa, B&B Mfg. Co. and Bell Telephone Co.. She volunteered at her church and Peoples Library and was a Majority Inspector of Elections in Arnold for a number of years. Jerry was also an honorary Life Member of the Alle-Kiski Chapter of the PASR (PA Assoc. of School Retirees) and a PASR state member.

Jerry enjoyed traveling, the theatre, and concerts but most important to her was time with her family, especially the events of her grandnephews and grandnieces. She also enjoyed collecting Hummels, Danbury Mint Christmas Ornaments and China Demitasse cups & saucers.

Friends will be received on Friday February 2, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. in the Giunta-Bertucci Funeral Home, Inc., 1509 5th Ave.  Arnold, PA 15068; JohnPaul Bertucci, Owner/Supervisor. Prayers of transfer will be held in the funeral home on Saturday February 3, 2024, 9:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass 9:30 A.M. in Mt. St. Peter R.C. Church, New Kensington. Entombment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park.
