Ida Cecchetti, 95, of Arnold, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Logan Place in New Kensington, with her granddaughter by her side. She was born on November 18, 1930, in Santa Lucia di Serino, Province of Avellino, Italy, to the late Romolo and Raffaela (Salomone) Gentile.
Under the guidance and strength of her mother, Ida immigrated to the United States with several of her siblings on November 30, 1948, aboard the M/V Vulcania. After arriving through Ellis Island, she made her way to Arnold, Pennsylvania, never imagining that it would become the place where she would build her life and family alongside her late husband, Alfred Cecchetti. Together they raised five sons, and Ida became the beloved matriarch of the Cecchetti family.
Ida was a devoted member of Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in New Kensington. She was also an active member of the Addolorata Italian Women’s Society, where she attended many events, participated in outings, and formed countless cherished friendships throughout the years.
From a very young age, Ida understood the true importance of family, and she carried that value with her throughout every stage of her life. Family always came first to her, and she devoted her whole heart to the people she loved. She was the perfect balance of classy and sassy — graceful, strong-willed, loving, and unforgettable. Anyone lucky enough to know Ida was welcomed with her full attention, endless warmth, and of course a full stomach from her incredible home-cooked meals, all handmade with love, talent, and tradition. Ida was also a self-taught crochet master, creating beautiful scarves, blankets, doilies, dolls, and countless treasured pieces that reflected both her creativity and the love she poured into everything she made.
Along with her love for cooking and crocheting, Ida found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was a devoted fan of Kmart, adored flowers — especially roses and gardenias — enjoyed watching movies, and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought endless happiness to her life.
Ida was also the last surviving member of the Gentile siblings. While her passing marks the end of an era for the family, her legacy lives on through the many loved ones she leaves behind, along with an extended family of friends, all of whom will continue to cherish her memory and the values she instilled in each of them.
Ida is survived by her loving sons, Dr. Alfred (Tana), Raymond (Linda), Jeffrey (Patty), Michael (Debbie), and Daniel (Kelly) Cecchetti; her cherished grandchildren, Korina (Markus), Daneda, Dominique (Shawn), Celina, Amber (Brandon), Jennifer (Bryan), Alina, Erica (Johnnie), Raymond II, Rosie, Aaron, Nicholas (Mary), Matthew (Rachel), and Julianna; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Giavonna, Mia, Noah, Delaney, Evan, Lucy, Shaun, Conor, Zach, Sophia, Mikey, Braylin, Ceanna, Angelo, Raffaelo, Giovanni, Samuel, Ronan, Cooper, Zach Jr., and Wyatt.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday May 26 from 3PM to 6 PM at the Giunta-Bertucci Funeral Home, Inc. 1509 Fifth Ave. Arnold Pa 15068, JohnPaul Bertucci, Owner/Supervisor. Prayers of transfer will take place on Wednesday May 27 at 9:30 AM in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass 10 AM at Mt. St. Peter R.C. Church, New Kensington.
