James T. Bokros, (aka Biggy) 55 of North Carolina (formerly of Arnold, PA) passed away unexpectedly on April 25, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph (Tom) Bokros, Sr., his brother, John Bokros, and his sister, Francine Bokros.
James was a 1986 graduate of Valley High School (New Kensington, PA). Post graduation he attended St. Vincent College and the University of Pittsburgh where he earned degrees in electrical engineering, math and English. He distinguished himself as a Rhodes Scholars and earned numerous educational honors. James was chosen to receive accolades that reflected his scholarly achievements, outstanding character, commitment and exceptional leadership aptitude.
In 1991, James began his career as a process engineer with General Motors at Delphi in Warren, Ohio and Juarez, Mexico. He was promoted to Supplier Quality Engineer at GM Powertrain Headquarters. He held numerous positions within Supplier Quality before being promoted to a People Leader position. James’s career spanned over 32 years at GM before leaving to pursue other opportunities. He was recognized as a knowledgeable engineer, great leader and good friend to many during his tenure at General Motors.
From childhood, James had an industrious nature. He earned a reputation as the “kid that understood how to earn a dollar”. He worked local Bingo Halls by selling cards and tickets, ran errands for elderly neighbors and collected pop bottles to earn refunds. James was fondly known for journaling in his “Spy Diary” and used details to “keep secret” for a small fee. He also enjoyed visiting his father where he cared for the animals and property, and helped at roadside fruit stands.
James traveled extensively nationally and globally. He relished his journeys to his hometown to visit with his beloved family members and two particular friends, Vanessa Leonardi-Black and Lillie Leonardi. He kept connected to local chums, Mark Germanich, John (Pugh) Hetterman, Jr. and Charles (Chuck) Witas. His hobbies included Fantasy Football and he was an ultimate fan of all Pittsburgh Sports Teams.
James is survived by his mother, Dolores Maria (Montemurro) Bokros (Arnold), his brother, Joseph Bokros, Jr. (Arnold), his sister, Mary Jo Bokros (Natrona Heights) half-brother, Jeffrey Bokros, stepbrother, George (Nikki) Theis, as well as several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. in the Giunta-Bertucci Funeral home, John Paul Bertucci, owner/supervisor, 1509 Fifth Avenue, Arnold. Burial will be private.
Friends are encouraged to wear Pittsburgh Steeler’s, Michigan State or Ohio State apparel to the memorial service.
