JoAnn "Josie" M (Como) Christy

JoAnn "Josie" M. Christy, 81, of Lower Burrell passed away peacefully with her family at her side Thursday, May 2 at Allegheny General Hospital.  JoAnn was the daughter of the late John and Aida (Traini) Como.              

JoAnn was a lifelong member of Mt. St. Peter R.C. Church in New Kensington.  She never met a stranger, enjoyed her card making club and was a master seamstress to all, especially her family.  She worked for many years at Shoop’s Drapery and Canvas Awnings. JoAnn was known for her heart of love, forgiveness, and her family was her life. 

JoAnn is survived by her husband of 64 years, Asa W. Christy; her sons, William John (Candee) Christy, Lower Burrell and Ace (Michele) Christy, Murrysville; her daughters, Denise (Randy Krause) Christy, Allegheny Township, Marianna (Jeffrey) Shaw, Lower Burrell, and Melissa (Randy) Diehl, York, PA.  JoAnn is also survived by her brothers, John (Sharon) Como, Lower Burrell and Christopher (Kathleen) Como, Ohio.  Also surviving JoAnn are 10 grandchildren, Molly, Katie (Marty), Olivia (Zach), Alexandra (Stas), Sabrina (Joe), Rachael, Josie, Isabelle, Ryan, and Ava and cherished 7 great grandchildren, Charlotte, Max, Vitali, Mario, Alice, Bianca, and Maddox as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Giunta-Bertucci Funeral Home, 1509 Fifth Avenue, Arnold, JohnPaul Bertucci owner/supervisor.  Prayers of Transfer will take place Friday, 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m. at Mt. St. Peter R.C. Church, 100 Freeport Road, New Kensington.  Burial will be private.
