Louis Abate, 68, of Lower Burrell, passed away Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022, in Pittsburgh. Born Oct. 6, 1953, in New Kensington, to Mary (Muto) Abate and the late John Abate. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lina (Abate) Edmonds. Louis was a member of Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington, a Pursuivant at Masonic Bethel Lodge #789 of Lower Burrell, and vice president of the Home Association at the American Legion Post 868 of Lower Burrell. He also served our country as a sergeant in the Air Force. Louis had a great love for his mother, his family and his friends. Louis survived by his mother, Mary (Muto) Abate, of Lower Burrell; a niece, Emily (Jamison) Edmonds-Eveland, of Delaware; a great-nephew, Jamison Jr.; godson, Patrick Muto; goddaughter, Christina (Muto) Texter; and several cousins. Friends will be received from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, in the GIUNTA-BERTUCCI FUNERAL HOME INC., 1509 Fifth Ave., Arnold, JohnPaul Bertucci, owner/supervisor. During the visitation, both the American Legion and the Masons will hold their respective services. Prayers of transfer will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in New Kensington.
