Mary Ozdany Obituary

Mary Ozdany, 96, of Arnold, passed peacefully, surrounded by her family on December 9, 2024, in her home.  She was born December 25, 1927, a Christmas baby, to the late Joseph and Julia (Salamone) Solomona.  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her Loving husband, Frank Ozdany; 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

Mary graduated from New Ken HS in 1946. She briefly worked at Sparkle Market where she met the love of her life, Frank.  They were married on February 19, 1949, and were married for 62 years until Frank’s death in 2011.  While raising 3 daughters she continued working at H & H Supermarket and Foodland where she retired as a meat wrapper.  She was an avid reader, especially her mystery books, and loved reading throughout her life.  During all her working years, she volunteered at her church, Mt. St. Peters, but when she retired that is when she really became an active volunteer.  She was proudly part of assisting in the School Cafeteria rotations, Mercy Meals, Fish Fries and Festa where she always worked with the fried dough team.  She loved being part of these groups and loved the people she worked beside.   She was also a member of her Beloved Addolorata Society.  Also, as our Mother loved to clean so much, she became part of a 3 woman team that cleaned the marble hall and the altar every week.  They felt honored to be able to do this, that they would clean the floors on their hands and knees.  She helped make her church shine.  Our Mother also loved growing flowers and would ensure every year our home was surrounded by roses, geraniums, mums or any flower with colorful blooms.  She was a strong Mother and raised her daughters to be like her, Mary Frances Kowalok of Arnold, Cathy Ann Ozdany of Arnold, and Darcy Ozdany-Newman (Mark) of Bluffton, SC.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Krista Kowalok Campbell (John), Sara Anne Kowalok, Jared Ozdany-Newman and Justin Ozdany-Newman and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a strong, loving woman who will be truly missed.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Addolorata Society at Mount Saint Peters Church.
