Patricia L. (Kosky) Tirdel

Patricia (Kosky) Tirdel of New Kensington, passed on January 6, 2025. She was the daughter of Raymond and Mary Kosky, and lived in the New Kensington/Arnold area most of her life.  She graduated from Arnold High School, Class of 1957 and was class secretary for 4 years. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing with an RN degree, the Harrisburg Hospital School of Enterostomal Therapy, and completed classes and workshops at Hershey Medical Center.  After her graduation, she worked at Citizens General Hospital, New Kensington, and started a stomal therapy department at that hospital.  Pat worked at Citizens General Hospital as an Enterostomal Therapist and had an out-patient clinic there.  She regularly visited high-rises and nursing homes, private homes, and other hospitals to provide assistance for those needing this special care.  After retiring from nursing, Pat and her husband, Dave, started a craft business, From the Heart, out of their home. For about 18 years, they sold handmade crafts at craft shows and festivals they attended.   Pat belonged to the PA Nurses Association and WOCN-Stomal Therapy Association.  She then worked at Giant Eagle as a food demonstrator, worked at Longwood Retirement Facility in Oakmont for a few years as a special salad maker and later at Meijer store in Bath, MI as a greeter. 

Pat was married to David S. Tirdel (deceased 2010) for almost 50 years.  She is survived by her 3 children, Beth Thomas, Meg (Bud) Bacheller, David (Stephanie) Tirdel, grandchildren, Michael (Alex) Thomas and Kyle (Chelsea) Thomas, Buddy and Aidan Bacheller, Josh and Meredith Tirdel, cousins David (Johny) DeRose, Peggy (Gary) Katocs, Joanne Phillips and Sylvia Maiuri.

Pat moved to Bath, Michigan in 2019 to live with her daughter, Beth, on the family farm, where she enjoyed watching the cows, gardening and going to the Senior Center for lunch.  Pat missed Pennsylvania and her friends so much she moved back to PA in May 2024 to live at Rosebrook Senior Living.
