Pauline Marsico Obituary

Pauline Marsico, 88, of New Kensington passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born January 12, 1936 in Miglierna, Italy to the late Catarina Scalise and Gregorio Guzzo, and was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joe (Giuseppe) Marsico . She grew up in Miglierina then immigrated to New Kensington when she was just over 20 years of age.

There are many words you can use to describe the life of Pauline. Most notably, she was a passionate woman who loved to cook but loved her family even more. She was always willing to lend a hand and proudly claimed the title of Matriarch of the family. She made us laugh with her many stories and instilled a work ethic in her children like no other.

Of Italian ancestry, she was happiest when she was singing the Italian classics and visiting her hometown in Italy of Miglierina, Calabria where she connected with friends of old, most notably her life-long friend of 60 years, Maria Celli. Her children were loved and her grandchildren were eager to visit her because they knew her home was filled with something everyone wanted and needed, and that was nana’s love.

By earthly standards, Pauline was not a rich woman, but she would tell you she was the wealthiest person on earth.  Her final moments were spent with her family as she took her last breath.  We know she had a wide open “Country Road” to heaven as her favorite song stated and we have no doubt her view was spectacular. Pauline was a member of the Mt. St. Peter R.C. Addolorata Society.

She is survived by her Children, Josephine (Larry) Barber, Kathy (Enzo Celli) Marsico, Alfonso (Maureen) Marsico and Joseph (Jennifer) Marsico, 11 Grandchildren, 7 Great-Grandchildren, 1 sister; Lucy Bowser, 3 Brothers; Joe Guzzo (Elaine), Pete Guzzo (Kathy) and Pasquale (Gina) Guzzo.
