Raymond "Mwalimu" Warner Sr., born Sept. 15, 1948, in Pittsburgh, passed away Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles M. Warner Sr. and Ruthann (Steen) Warner. Raymond was a Sensei of martial arts, a respected leader of the community, a professional musician and a loving father. Raymond loved African culture and was a Master Conga Drummer. As a matter of fact, he could play any instrument he picked up. Raymond had a degree in media broadcasting. Raymond is survived by six Warner children, Leona, Tahira, Rabrena, Halua, Raymond (Shaka) Jr. and Fontessa; 16 grandchildren, Jacob, DaeVar Sr., Travis, Rosa'Lee, DiVine, Laylah, Chaztyle, Izreal, Antonio, Zayden, Jeremiah, Jordan, Jasir, Kardi, Milah and Emmanuel; and four great-grandchildren, Giavonna, Dawn, Daevar Jr. and Katalina. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, MaryBell and Ruthanne. Raymond Is survived by four siblings, Rita, Charles, David and Karen. He is also survived by his longtime companion, Willadean Bailey; and the committed mother of his children, Deborah (Brackney) Warner. Services and interment are private.
