Shirley Vokes, of Lower Burrell, passed away Friday, May 17, 2024, in New Kensington. She was born in Mogadore, Ohio to the late Richard and Jesse (Hoskinson) Farmer. She was the wife of 40 years to the late Glenn Vokes. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Glenn William "Bucky" Vokes, Jr.; her baby brother, Calvin Farmer; sisters, Helen (the late Johnny) Tresco, Ruth Conley and Cleo Skinner.
Shirley found great joy in watching the wildlife outside her window and creating art and poetry. She was a strong, proud, hard-working woman of faith who adored her children and grandchildren.
Surviving her are five daughters, Heidi Jane (Jason) Oskin, New Kensington, Toni Marie Vokes, Lower Burrell, Bambi Sue (Tom) Horneman, Vandergrift, Melody Lynn Vokes, Vandergrift, and Elizabeth Ann Vokes of Lower Burrell; 4 grandchildren Todd (Melissa) Vokes, Selena (Tom) Callender, Jason Mator, and Rebecca Vokes, 10 great-grandchildren, Nathan and Benjamin Vokes, Marissa, Abby, Ally, Tommy, and Ethan Callender, Cameron and Elijah Mator, and Kingston Gordon, and her brother, Harold (Doris) Farmer.
