Vincent Hannon, known to many as Vinnie, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, at home in New Kensington. Born on October 24, 1938, in Sligo, Ireland, Vincent exemplified a life of hard work, dedication to his family and a humorous outlook that was well known and loved by those who knew him.
After emigrating to America, he was quickly swept up in a whirlwind of excitement that included being drafted as a private in the budding Vietnam War and finding his forever love in Eileen (Buset) Hannon with whom he enjoyed a great life and brought forth three pretty amazing children.
His chosen profession was in the steel industry. For over forty years, he worked diligently to provide a great life for his family. Whether at Al Tech Specialty Steel or Allegheny Ludlum Steel, as long as he had his family (with a dog, a few cats and some birds), Vincent was happy.
Being a devout Catholic all his life, after retirement, he enjoyed working at Mount Saint Peter’s Roman Catholic Church as a sacristan and doing basic maintenance like polishing floors, repairing statues and replacing the candles.
His life cannot be summed up in a few simple paragraphs. Like any good Irishman, this man enjoyed a good beer, a good joke and spinning a great yarn. His stories were legendary and will live in the hearts of his children and grandchildren for generations. Be they military anecdotes, tales of childhood mischief or even regaling his youngest daughter with stories of finding a banshee’s comb, his humor and heart lived in every detail.
Vincent is survived by his three children and their spouses, Vincent (and Karen) Hannon, Debra Ann (and Scott) Salisbury and Michele (and Randall) Baumann, along with his adoring grandchildren, Gavin, Gail, Sam and Katherine. He is also survived by his older brother Stephen Hannon and his younger sister, Breda Conway.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Eileen; his parents, Cathleen and Patrick Hannon; his brothers Michael, Patrick, Frank, Jack and Brendan and his sisters Cathleen and Maureen. May they all be reunited in God’s beautiful garden. Vincent will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who met him.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass Monday 10:00 a.m. at Mt. St. Peter RC Church, New Kensington. Burial will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Giunta-Bertucci Funeral Home, 1509 5th Avenue, Arnold, JohnPaul Bertucci, Supervisor/Owner.
